
Dr. Tomás Pinheiro, researcher at CENIMAT|i3N, is one of the winners of the 1st edition of the Ignition Grants for Interdisciplinary Research, an initiative promoted by NOVA University Lisbon and supported by Fundação Santander Portugal.
The INSUBIO project, led by Dr. Tomás Pinheiro in collaboration with Dr. Tatiana Andrade Burrinha from NOVA Medical School - Faculdade de Ciências Médicas, and with the participation of Professor Elvira Fortunato and Professor M Paula Macedo, was one of the three projects selected for funding. Each winning team will receive €30,000 to develop innovative interdisciplinary research with strong scientific and social impact.
INSUBIO aims to develop a novel insulin biosensor to complement current methods of glycemic control in diabetes management. The project stands out for its interdisciplinary approach, combining materials science, bioengineering, and medical research to create a sustainable and accessible technology for health monitoring.
