As part of Science and Technology Week 2025, promoted by Ciência Viva, Ana Almeida and José Malta visited seven schools across Lisbon, Almada and Seixal to deliver the activity “A Scientist in School: When Nature Inspires New Materials.”
The sessions introduced students to biomimicry and to the ways in which nature can guide the development of sustainable, high-performance materials. Ana also showcased real prototypes produced in the lab, allowing students to see and handle tangible examples of bio-inspired innovation.
Across three days, the initiative reached more than 300 students, from the 7th to the 12th year, strengthening scientific literacy and encouraging curiosity about materials science and sustainability.
