CENIMAT|i3N recently had the pleasure of welcoming Prof. Ute Kaiser, Full Professor at Ulm University, Germany, and Head of the Group of Materials Science Electron Microscopy, for a scientific visit aimed at strengthening future collaboration.

The visit focused on exploring opportunities for joint research in the field of advanced characterization of nanomaterials, with particular emphasis on high-resolution electron microscopy techniques. Prof. Kaiser is internationally recognized for her pioneering work in electron microscopy and was the director of the Sub-Ångström Low-Voltage Electron Microscopy (SALVE) project. Her research is centered on understanding the properties of functional 2D materials and van der Waals heterostructures, as well as electron–beam–specimen interactions at the single-atom level in both organic and inorganic systems.

During her stay, Prof. Kaiser toured the CENIMAT-i3N laboratories, gaining insight into ongoing research activities and state-of-the-art facilities. She also engaged with PhD students, fostering scientific exchange and discussing current challenges and opportunities in nanomaterials research.

This visit marks an important step toward establishing collaborative initiatives between CENIMAT-i3N and Ulm University, particularly in the area of cutting-edge electron microscopy for nanomaterials characterization.
