Professor Elvira Fortunato and Professor Rodrigo Martins are leading, on the European side, the Sino-European Flexible Electronics Joint Laboratory, established in Hefei, China. This laboratory will focus on «research into flexible and sustainable electronics, with applications including skin-adaptable biomedical membranes and lightweight flexible photovoltaic cells suitable for space use», pointed out Professor Elvira Fortunato.
The agreement to create this laboratory was signed in June 2024 and the facilities are due to be completed in 2026.
The University of Valencia has joined the consortium and the project has the support of the European Academy of Sciences, chaired by Professor Rodrigo Martins.
This development has been highlighted by various media, emphasising its global relevance.
