We are thrilled to announce that Professor Maria Helena Godinho, researcher at CENIMAT|i3N has been awarded a prestigious ERC Synergy Grant of 2.3 million euros to study Liquid Crystalline Elastomers (LCEs) of natural origin!

This remarkable achievement is the first ERC Synergy Grant awarded to NOVA FCT and marks the 12th ERC Grant secured by our dedicated team at CENIMAT|i3N.

On October 21st, CENIMAT|i3N hosted a distinguished delegation from Anhui University of Technology (AHUT), China. The event took place in the NANOVA room, located in the CENIMAT|i3N building.
The visit started with a welcome from Professor José Júlio Alferes, NOVA FCT Dean, and Professor Rodrigo Martins, Coordinator of CENIMAT|i3N. A significant highlight was the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the China-Europe Electronic Materials International Innovation Center (Hefei) and NOVA FCT.

On Friday, 11th October, 14h00, at CENIMAT |i3N Amphitheater Leopoldo Guimarães, we will have the pleasure to listen to Dr. Joseph Neilson from Trinity College Dublin, talking about "Ultra-Thin and High-Quality Nanosheet Networks via Layer-by-Layer Assembly at Liquid-Liquid Interfaces". This week, CENIMAT|i3N brought Nanotechnology to life for 10th-grade students at the Portuguese School of Cape Verde through a virtual seminar via Zoom.
Over two days, Dr. Henrique Vazão de Almeida introduced the students to the fascinating field of Nanotechnology and highlighted the courses available at the Department of Materials Science of NOVA FCT.
