Following his election as Corresponding Member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts of Barcelona (RACAB) earlier this year, Professor Rodrigo Martins delivered his admission lecture (“Lliçó de lauda”) on October 30, 2025, at the Academy’s headquarters in Barcelona.
Entitled “Emerging Advanced Materials and AI to Answer to Sustainable Society Demands”, the lecture explored how the convergence of advanced materials, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence can drive sustainable solutions to pressing global challenges - from e-waste reduction to renewable energy and circular economy innovations.
Professor Martins emphasized the need for responsible technological development that balances progress with environmental and social sustainability, aligning with i3N’s mission to foster cutting-edge research for a sustainable future.
