CENIMAT|i3N at NOVA FCT is part of LEAF – Self-Powered, Self-Reshaping Autarkic Skin for Wireless Motes, a 24-month project funded under the Horizon Europe Hop-On Facility call HORIZON-WIDERA-2025-03-ACCESS-01. CENIMAT|i3N will receive 428.5 k€ to support its activities within the consortium.
Led at NOVA FCT by CENIMAT|i3N researcher Emanuel Carlos, with the support of his team, LEAF is developing a new generation of sustainable, self-powered electronic skins that integrate energy harvesting, storage and environmental sensing into autonomous wireless motes.
The CENIMAT|i3N team contributes advanced bio-based polymers, eco-friendly inks, green electrolytes and scalable printing technologies, enabling low-impact, large-area fabrication of biodegradable sensing devices. Applications include smart agriculture and environmental monitoring, fully aligned with European green and digital transition goals.
Participation through the WIDERA Hop-On call reinforces CENIMAT|i3N integration in European research networks and strengthens its leadership in sustainable printed electronics and green hybrid systems.
